How Should You Fill Your Above Ground Pool?
By Clark Rubber | 17th October, 2019Once you buy an above ground pool, one of the next steps is to fill it. But how do you go about doing this? There are a few ways to fill a pool, but the best one for you is going to depend on a few different factors.
Filling an above ground pool with a hose
You could fill above ground pools in smaller sizes with water from your garden hose, although this will take a long time. For example - with a half-inch hose and 40psi water pressure, filling the 6,836 litres Intex Prism Frame Pool Rectangular - 13ft should take around two and a half hours.
Is your garden hose going to be useful when it comes to filling a pool?
The total time will vary, depending on the strength of your hose and the volume of water you need to fill up the pool. Generally speaking, this will be the slowest way to fill an above ground pool. If you have a large pool like a Clark Sunsoka Resin Pool, you would also have to run the hose for as long as 24 hours - far from ideal.
Shipping water
For those with Council restrictions on water use or without the time to use a garden hose, there are companies that can ship water to you for your pool. These water cartage services can fill a pool very quickly, but the costs could be much higher than doing it yourself.
There will also be the matter of access - a truck carrying water will need to be able to connect a hose that can run straight to your pool. It's an important, practical consideration that many people don't think about before they order.
Another important factor is the quality of the water being shipped, which can vary dramatically depending on the supplier of the water cartage service. Always check this before ordering.
How do you know what works best?
When you make the decision to install an above ground pool, the temptation to use it immediately can mean you choose the fastest filling method available. However, water is not free, and you have to think carefully about how you will fill the pool before you buy.
